March 9th Random act of kindness day for Thomas

On March 9th 2005 Thomas was born he passed away on March 10th2005 his family in their grief asked in his Obituary asked for everyone on his Birthday by doing one random act of kindness to honor his memory.

Every day we should all do something kind, but on this day it means so much more. In the hopes that everyone will participate and it will spread across the world to effect as many people as possible I am asking all of my readers to please remember Thomas and do an Act of Kindness and if you wish please go to the Facebook page of this family and tell them what you have done you can simply type the heading of this post in your search bar on Facebook to find the page.

It does not have to be something huge any small kindness makes a difference to someone, pay for the cup of coffee the stranger sitting next to you had, visit a nursing home and talk to the residents, donate food to a food pantry in your area, call a friend who may be lonely and talk. Whatever you do will be appreciated by everyone.

I thank you all for participating in a day that is so special to this family and in memory of Thomas.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DECADE OR TWO MAKES

As a grandmother I remember the days of Boys team Girls team and some sports are for and some for girls.

Nowadays it seems to equal if either wants to play they can…. I am all for it!

I have a Grandson who wrestled and played baseball and I also have a granddaughter who has played on the boy’s baseball team and is now wrestling!
How do you feel about this? I will admit at first I  worried about the normal things like will she be a so called (tomboy) or what if she gets hurts ( you know the old girls are softer thing) but let me tell you this girl has some real spirit and she has an arm on her she can really throw that ball.

And wrestling is a great activity for the body and mind as well as teaches self-confidence. As far as the tomboy thing goes no worries she loves to wear her fancy dresses and high heels and dance, she is also a music lover. I am so proud of this girl just as proud as I am of her brother she is so well rounded in her interests sports, dancing, singing, hunting even farming by no means will ever be the wallflower we used to see in my days in school.

I cannot wait  to see what is next on her agenda……..she has no fear if it is out there and can be tried she will go for it and give it her all!

Go for your dreams you can do anything you set your mind to!

Love you Miss doodles!

No Time / No excuse

Seems today we  hear this a lot from everyone, but have you ever wondered where did they find the time years ago when family’s had 8-12 kids and a farm to run or jobs to go to, a garden to plant and meals to make an old milk cow to milk.

I remember no matter how busy the adults, we always were included helping in the garden, or cooking the meal, doing chores.

Nowadays it seems folks turn on the TV or charge up the iPod and hope those things entertain the kids long enough for them to get dinner ready.

My love of Gardening and Cooking as well as work ethic came from being aloud/expected to help and have fun right alongside Gram in the garden deciding what to pick to make the meal.

I believe involving your children in the daily works is how we inspire them to love cooking, gardening and teach them to feel the gratification of a hard day’s work. I can sit here today and remember the feeling of dirt in my hands and singing along with gram and grandpa as we pulled carrots or dug potatoes from the garden, or standing on a chair to reach the counter to help knead bread dough or going up to milk old black before we could relax and play games in the evening.

These memories are so precious to me. What memories are you building with your children and how do you involve them in the daily chores? The title No time /No excuse to me is what we should live by, the time from birth to collage or adulthood is so much faster than we can imagine that we need to grasp every moment we can to make a lasting impression on our kids’ lives so please do not waste a moment.

Please take the time to teach as well as love your children every day!

Compassion

We are all born with it, but some do not use it. Anymore it seems we have more compassion for our animals than we do our fellow human beings, I agree we should treat our animals well. But can you imagine a world where everyone is treated equal and with respect.

We live in a very busy world but I still try to find time to call a friend , smile at a neighbor, help another in need, respect my elders. Oh how I wish the whole world could take the time to do these things.

The future of our world looks bleak at this time and I believe the day will come again when we all need to depend on one another to survive and I hope that we have not buried Compassion so deep it cannot surface and help us all through the trying times yet to come.
Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

Easy way to have a Fresh Herb garden even if you dont have extra space !

And it looks so pretty

Find a old pallet make sure all nails are secure and tight, plastic or garden fabric the back, bottom and both sides.

Now fill it up with a good potting soil

Add your Herbs and water as instructed and let sit on ground 1-2 weeks so everything takes a good root
At this point you can lean against house, or better yet hang from the side of shed or house at a good hieght to gather from. Making sure you put the open end up for watering!

Valentines Day will soon be here...Do you have plans?
What does LOVE really mean to you ?

For me it is simply contentment, a feeling of home in his arms the knowing that he brings out the best in me and together we can stand against anything that comes our way, it is knowing that if i fall he will pick me up, and that amazing warm feeling i get even after 38 years every time he looks at me and smiles.
As of right now we have no plans for Feb 14th but what i have come to relize over the years is it does not matter if we are sitting at a fancy table for two eating or dancing the night away somewhere or just sitting on our couch watching a movie, or even working in the barn......It is the being together that counts, love is not there because of where you are, it is there because of who is there!
