In this day and income i think being thrifty is a blessing. If you had to describe your style what would it be??? Mine well look at the pictures i guess one would say Flea market thrifty would be to my liking! And think of the saving $$$$ for another use.

Are you planing your garden and seeds yet?

 

Having listened to all the news about unemployment and taxes and tight budgets, makes me start thinking about my next years food supplies and when it is cold and wintry there is nothing better than going to the canning shelf's and getting some of those great summer and fall flavors that you have canned/stored. A great Vegetable soup starts in the garden and lands on the canning shelf's and root cellar, just waiting to be put together on a cold winters day!!! Personally i cannot say i follow a real recipe for this i just know that if i grab some cubed beef from the freezer ( unless i have some left over beef in fridge) cook it up then go to the cellar and grab some canned Tomatoes, Potatoes, onion, a few pints of different vegetables add a alittle salt, pepper and celery seed to taste and simmer and a meal is born!

As i am using this years canned goods i start thinking about getting my seeds started and maybe adding a few ideas to the garden this spring. Have you thought about yours yet? 

What MOM are you ?

We just celebrated Mothers day and i hope you all had a great day!

But i' am wondering how do you see yourself as a mom?

I guess if i had to put a name to my style of being a mother i would say i' am a cross between Shirley Partridge and Roseanne Conner.

So let me know where you think you stand as a great mother / who would be your comparable TV mom?

Age really does not matter...

I  know i have not posted in a few days, so i apologize for that but i have been very busy helping my children and grandchildren.

And this is where the age remark comes in seems it does not matter if they are 2 or 32 you will always help your kids and it is not easy to see them hurt even when they are grown.

When a child is young and someone hurts there feelings or they bump there  head or scrap a knee it is our place as parents to intercede and make things better.

As they become adults we still feel there pain and hurt when they do BUT when they are grown although it is still right to be by there side and comfort, we must remember they are adults to make mistakes or have a issue that they need to solve on there own.

All we can do is be there if they need to talk or need a hug ( and no matter how old you are, we all like a hug from time to time ) so please don't forget and give someone you love a hug today not only will they feel good but you will too !

It is not just a one person thing it is a family thing !

If you are looking for a single project or something to fill those empty day's please consider volunteering, there are many ways to help.

  There is nothing like teaching your kids to be part of a community and sharing there gifts

The smile you can give a elderly person by just stopping by the nursing home to say hello and introduce yourself is a wonderful feeling and most would really enjoy seeing the kids along with you!

The 4-H program is near and dear to my heart and it is not always a animal project there is a huge range of clubs from gardening to cooking and raising animals and much more if there is a craft or something you are good at and they do not have a club doing it in your area already START one you will not be disappointed this is a very rewarding program.

Your local volunteer fire/ ambulance company are always looking for help, and it is not always taking classes and fighting fires or helping on the ambulance , they also need help with fund raiser and dinners or making coffee and sandwiches for the ones working a long fire there are alot of behind the scene things that need done.

I have grown up my whole life as a volunteer watching my parents as girl scout and boyscout leaders and firemen and coaching mini football teams i remember being so proud of what they did to help in there community and i have tried to carry this tradition on , so i challenge you to go out there and help somewhere/ anywhere the nursing home the firehouse the local park cleaning up 4-H  it does not matter what as long as you are helping do it alone if you want for you, or do it as a family and teach your children what it means to be apart of something.

What a weekend so far......

Friday i got to be the Housekeeper !

Saturday i spent the day being the farm hand with my wonderful

husband, in the barn working, then out building fence. It was a beautiful day !

And today i get to be the wife and cook , so i was up early to put a pork roast in to slow roast for a nice Sunday dinner, and have Choc chip cookies mixed up and ready to bake. wondering who i will be by tonight? ( who knows) but whoever it is i will have a nice time and enjoy it!

" A busy season is about to start "

I Would like to ask a favor of you all, it is that time of year again where farmers are working hard to get there corn in the fields and Hay is growing, crops to to be worked and harvested.

And many times during this season cars and farm machinery will travel the same dirt roads ( and even some main highways)  i do realize it may slow you down for a few seconds but please be cautious for your safety and the farmers.

Many of the newer tractors have turn signals but there are those that do not, I am asking you, if you are a farmer or a person who is just traveling the road, PLEASE be alert pay attention so we all can be safe, and please pass this message along to your friends being aware and alert for these situations can help keep everyone healthy and safe.

Sometimes you just don't have the money to do something special, but lets think about this..... One very special thing you can do is a Picnic really all you need is a yard , a park or walk in the woods and you were gonna have to make a lunch anyway so pack those sandwiches up and grab some drinks and get the family together for a surprise picnic! Maybe take along a game or to a camera and make some memory's together. If you walk to the back yard or park it cost you nothing. The food does not have to be expensive pack some PB&J and some snacks You probably already had stuff for today's lunch anyway so no extra cost there! All you need is a few hours of your time and a blanket.
